More Than 400,000 IDPs in Border Camps

SY24 correspondent captured a concentration of thousands of IDPs in Atmeh and Qah camps on the Turkish border. These camps accommodate thousands of families displaced from Damascus, Aleppo, Idlib and Hama.

The camps’ residents are resorting to alternative ways to generate electricity, such as cars batteries and generators. In the past few years, cars batteries were widely used because of the absence of any operating costs.

Approximately 400,000 IDPs live in the camps on the Turkish border, fleeing the regime’s military operations. During the last month, this number has increased due to the ongoing fighting in eastern rural Hama and Idlib, add to that the IDPs from Damascus, Aleppo and Homs.

Many IDPs have recently built rooms and buildings to replace the tents that don’t offer any protection from the bitter cold or the scorching heat.
