The Syrian Coalition strongly condemned the continued mass forced displacement of civilians in different parts of Syria, the latest of which are taking place in northern rural Homs and the adjacent southern rural Hama.
The Syrian Coalition said that these operations are aimed at changing the demographic landscape in Syria, pointing out that they were being carried out with the help of the “Russian and Iranian occupation forces.”
The Assad regime has been using the most brutal tactics to force the local communities out of their homes, the Coalition said. “These tactics include heavy, indiscriminate bombardment, coercion and deception through the holding of conferences and the imposition of shady deals that Russia and Iran were the first to violate and used them to impede all attempts to reach settlement.”
The Coalition underscored that all deals leading to mass forced displacement and demographic change are absolutely illegal as they are being reached under coercion and the commission of the most heinous crimes. “No party can claim the right to conclude, sponsor, or legitimize the mass forced displacement or justify or recognize its consequences.”
The Coalition warned that the current situation directly serves the Iranian plans to create further chaos and export violence and terrorism to countries of the region. It also cautioned that the latest developments on the ground risk dragging the region to a prolonged conflict through which ethnic and sectarian cleansing operations are passed by an Iranian political decision with direct support from Russia.
The Coalition called upon the international community to work on stopping the violations taking place against civilians in rural Homs and rural Hama. It warned of the consequences of the mass forced displacement operations taking place in Syria as well as of the violations taking place against civilians in the areas that are being recaptured by the Assad regime. The Coalition also warned that the Assad regime is fueling the sectarian strife to serve its own goals and those of its backers.
